Maplewood Residence is a complete property transformation of a modest 1940s home, reimagined for a mother and her teenage daughter. The project began with a simple but provocative question: Can a contemporary home be created entirely from off-the-shelf materials?

Working exclusively with products sourced from a local Home Depot, every element—from exterior cladding and paving to interior finishes and bathroom accessories—was carefully selected and composed into a cohesive architectural language.

To maximize efficiency and minimize waste, the design strategically reused as much of the existing structure as possible, including framing and openings, while introducing a thoughtful addition tailored to the family’s evolving needs.

The result is a refined, contemporary home that challenges assumptions about material sourcing, demonstrating that thoughtful design—not exclusivity of materials—is what ultimately defines quality and experience.
